The Purpose of Creation, the Fate of the Deniers, and God’s Way of Protecting His Prophets

In Surah al-Anbiya (21:16–36), Allah clarifies the wisdom behind creation: the heavens, the earth, and all that is within them were not made in vain or for mere play. Rather, they serve a greater purpose — to point to the truth of God’s oneness and to test humankind in their response to His guidance.

The passage warns those who deny the truth and mock the message of the prophets. Though they may be given time in this world, their end is certain. Their arrogance cannot stand against the justice of Allah, and their idols or false gods will not protect them when judgment comes.

At the same time, the verses affirm God’s constant protection of His prophets. Throughout history, every prophet faced rejection, ridicule, or hostility. Yet Allah safeguarded them, supported their mission, and granted ultimate victory to the truth.

These verses highlight three eternal lessons:

  1. Life has a divine purpose — to recognize and worship Allah alone.
  2. Denial of the truth has consequences — both in this life and the Hereafter.
  3. God protects His messengers and their followers — even if trials and opposition appear overwhelming.

This balance of purpose, justice, and divine care offers hope to believers and a warning to deniers, reminding humanity that creation itself testifies to the truth of God’s message.
