In these verses from Sūrah Āl ʿImrān, Allah warns against one of the gravest sins that corrupts societies: usury (riba). Believers are reminded not to consume riba, as it leads to injustice, greed, and the exploitation of the weak. Instead, they are called to fear Allah, so that they may attain true success.
At the same time, Allah opens the door of hope and mercy. Those who may have fallen into sin are not abandoned; Allah invites them to sincere repentance and promises His vast forgiveness. His mercy encompasses all things, and He assures His servants that turning back to Him with humility and good deeds brings both forgiveness and Paradise.
These verses strike a balance between warning and hope: a clear prohibition against destructive practices, and a reminder of Allah’s endless mercy for those who return to Him.
