The True Story of Mary and Jesus (Peace Be Upon Them)

The Qur’an presents a beautiful and respectful account of Mary and her son, Jesus (peace be upon them), free from exaggeration and distortion.

Mary (Maryam) is honored in the Qur’an as one of the purest and most devoted women in history. A whole chapter — Surah Maryam — is named after her. She was chosen and purified by Allah, and her devotion was sincere and constant.

By the command of Allah, Mary conceived Jesus miraculously, without any human touch. When she questioned how this could be, she was told:

“It is easy for Me,” said your Lord.
(Surah Maryam 19:21)

Jesus (Isa) was born as a sign for humanity. He spoke from the cradle to defend his mother and declare his mission:

“Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.”
(Surah Maryam 19:30)

Throughout his life, Jesus performed many miracles — but always by Allah’s permission. He never claimed to be the son of God. Rather, he invited his people to worship the One true God, just as all prophets before him had done.

The Qur’an corrects misunderstandings and invites people to honor Jesus for who he truly was:

A prophet, a word from God, a spirit created by Him, and a servant who never claimed divinity.

This is the true story — full of dignity, purity, and truth — as revealed by the Creator Himself.
