How did creation begin And what is the origin of sin?

The question of how creation began is one of the most profound inquiries in the human heart. In Islam, the answer is both simple and awe-inspiring: Creation began by the will of God (Allah), the All-Powerful and All-Wise. He said “Be” — and it was.

The Qur’an teaches that Allah created the heavens and the earth and everything in between them with purpose and wisdom. Nothing came into existence by chance or chaos. Humanity, too, was created with a noble purpose: to know, worship, and live in harmony with the Creator.

As for the origin of sin, Islam presents a clear and balanced understanding. The first sin committed by a conscious being was arrogance — when Satan (Iblis) refused to bow to Adam out of pride. He disobeyed God’s command and was cast out of divine mercy.

Soon after, Adam and Eve (peace be upon them) made a mistake by eating from the forbidden tree. But here lies a key distinction in Islam: They repented sincerely, and God forgave them. There is no inherited sin in Islam. Every soul is born pure and is accountable only for its own choices.

Sin, then, is not a stain passed down, but a personal act of disobedience. And just as God is Just, He is also Merciful. He opens the door of repentance for all who seek Him with sincerity.

So the story of creation is not one of despair, but of hope — a journey back to our Creator through guidance, truth, and mercy.
