How Did Creation Begin? And What Is the Origin of Sin?

Every human heart eventually asks: Where did we come from? and Why does evil exist?
Islam offers clear, meaningful answers rooted in divine wisdom.

The Beginning of Creation

According to the Qur’an, creation began when Allah (God), the Eternal Creator, willed it. He simply said “Be”, and it was. He created the heavens, the earth, light, darkness, and all forms of life with purpose and precision.

The first human, Adam, was created from clay. Allah shaped him, breathed into him of His spirit, and taught him names and knowledge—giving him honor and responsibility. Adam was not born from chaos or accident, but as part of a divine plan.

The Origin of Sin

Sin began with a test. Adam and his wife Eve were placed in Paradise with one simple command: Do not eat from a specific tree. But Satan, a rebellious jinn full of pride, whispered lies and tempted them. They disobeyed. That was the first human sin.

However, unlike some other beliefs, Islam does not teach original sin. Adam and Eve both repented, and God forgave them. Their mistake did not curse humanity—it became a lesson in mercy, responsibility, and free will.

“Then Adam received from his Lord some words, and He accepted his repentance. Indeed, He is the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful.”
(Qur’an 2:37)

What Does This Mean for You?

In Islam, every soul is born pure. You are not responsible for the sins of others. You are free to choose good or evil—and God, in His mercy, always welcomes repentance.

Creation began with purpose. Sin began with choice. And your journey back to God can begin with sincerity.
