In Surah Fatir (35:15–26), Allah reminds humanity of their true condition: “O mankind, you are those in need of Allah, while Allah is Free of need, the Praiseworthy” (35:15). Every creature — humans, jinn, and all that exists — depends entirely on the Creator for life, sustenance, and guidance. In contrast, Allah is self-sufficient, perfect, and in no need of His creation.
Because people are weak and in constant need, Allah sent messengers throughout history. Their mission was not to gain benefit for themselves but to deliver the truth: to call people to worship Allah alone, abandon false gods, and live by divine guidance. The verses stress that the duty of the messengers was only to convey the message clearly. Guidance itself is in the hands of Allah.
The passage also highlights the continuity of the prophetic mission. Just as the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) faced rejection, so did the messengers before him. Yet the role of each prophet was fulfilled when they warned their people and conveyed God’s message, leaving no excuse for denial.
These verses establish two essential truths:
This balance between human need and divine mercy demonstrates both the fragility of creation and the immense compassion of the Creator in guiding His servants.
